this is hilarious! I just happened to fall upon this (no pun intended;) while seeing if there were such a thing as a child-sized treadmill. how cute it is!

now , to touch a tad on those who commented and were outraged by such a product:

1. I have to hand it to the manufacturer, there are tons of kids (like Mike Tyson's daughter) who get injured or even killed on treadmills, why not make a kid-friendly one for those who are intrigued?

2. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, some people actually LIKE to run. Not for loosing weight (I mean, come on - do Olympians need to go on a diet? no, they have that competitive drive and love for the endorphins their body releases when they run).

3. I am no fanatic about exercise - I have 3 young kids and don't have the time - ALTHOUGH I would LOVE to have the time. Running dispels stress like NOTHING else. Breathing the fresh air outdoors is great, and a treadmill is a sorry excuse of a run, but you get what you can get.

4. It is a GOOD THING to exercise. exercising does not make the exerciser arrogant, conceited, or self-absorbed. no more than eating filet mignon makes the eater glutenous. if you like it, you like it!

5. Have you ever seen an 80-year-old runner? I have! Most of them look better and get around better than a 60-year-old couch potato (if you're feeling feisty, you could insert a mom who takes their kid to the park, and she herself sits and eats bon bons on the bench ;) I want to enjoy life to the end, not wait till I have diabetes and heart issues - forced to exersize...ON A TREADMILL!!! :)

6. Good habits start young!

We're all well meaning web-cruisers, nothing too awfully terrifying... try not to take life SO seriously.

There are a lot of people that comment with closed minds. I'm going to order one of these because 1) my son can use it to help with his physical therapy 2) my daughters LOVE to use my treadmill, and I would like for them to have one of their own 3) gives them an activity for when it's too hot, cold or wet outside. Also anytime I exercise with my kids I have conversations with them or we play games with tv shows we are watching. Sometimes I even read them books while we are doing it. Very very closed minded people in this world, and it saddens me to think that just because people are trying to find healthy activities for their children to do when they can't go outside or to the playground they are ridiculed. There are also sometimes as I have pointed out as have 1 or 2 other comments medical reasons for having one of these. You really should use the filter on your brain and think before you respond.

I am considering getting this for my daughter. She is such a mama's girl. As soon as we move back to New Olreans, I plan on doing the Couch to 5K program and Run the Crescent City Fall Classic (5K) and possible the Cresent City Classic (10K) one day. I just found out they have a Jr one where a 5-6 year old (my daughter) runs .25 mile and have longer distances for older kids. I know she would love to run like mommy. But since I have two younger kids and this machine is actually cheaper than buying a double stroller, it would be perfect for her!

And so mothers can't exercise for thirty minutes b/c their neglecting their child for 30 minutes out of an entire 14-16 hour day? Wouldn't you rather the child do it with the mommy and they are actually doing something together forming a close bond? If a mom can't exercise, then she is not taking care of herself, and eventually she might not be able to take care of her children.

We live in colder climate and don't get to go outside all the time and things like Wii Active keeps me going in the really cold months. I don't think having a kids treadmill is a bad idea. Kids in general are getting lazier and lazier. This is an improvement and not a hinderance. Also I have diabetes and my kids who are 2 and 7 we encourage to keep active any way, any how!! Being positive in the world gets people further in life and negativity I have no time for!!

Alicia, John and Elaine....and any other people that feel like they do. You are idiots thinking that this product is not beneficial for kids when it is raining outside, too cold to go out or they are in for the night and have extra energy.
Any product out there can be abused or misused by anyone.....I am sure there may be some that would abuse this one too.....but that is not for us to decide. You would see a product like this taken off the market or not produced at all because of your stupid belief that it is better for a kid to sit around? I would have hated being your kid.

Actually for children with a physical disability of the legs the treadmill would be beneficial or even placed outdoors for the children to play and have fun.
I can only feel sad for the child role modelling its mother chained to a treadmill absorbing reality TV this before it has even entered into the survival of the fittest game of life often referred to as “The treadmill” or was it the grindstone!
This is complete nonsense "brave new world" laboratory rats would complain to the union about this.

The people who have a problem with this seem to think only parents who don't play with their kids or take their kids to playgrounds would want this. That's stupid. You can't neglect you own health just because you have a child. If your child would otherwise be laying on the floor watching TV while you get in a half hour of exercise, but they would like to get on the treadmill too, then this is a great way for them to be able to exercise WITH you rather than laying around doing nothing. This is also a great way to set up a pattern for a healthy lifestyle later on. Kids don't play on the playground until they're 40, and if they've already found a form of exercise they like before they lose interest in the playground then they're less likely to become overweight. And as for John up there talking about lazy moms, YOU'RE NOT A WOMAN! How dare he criticize us. Apparently John thinks women should spend every moment focusing on their children and ignoring their own health while men do... what exactly? What a jerk.
