Treadmill Just for the Kids
November 10, 2006 | Posted by Allison as For the Kids at 12:00 pm |

Are your kids a little wired? Need to release them to a bit of exercising before bedtime? Well, have we got just the thing for you, a treadmill just for kids.
The Kid Treadmill is the perfect height for children and features a normal treadmill display to indicate your speed & the distance covered. The speed can be adjusted to suit the level of exertion you need from your child, or how much time off you need to watch your shows. Cost, $100. Not too bad for a healthier babysitter than the TV.

I love this product I am a personal trainer and devot my time to helping overweight children get and maintain healthy lifestyles. This product is very safe, its powered by your kids so if they fall it stop and best of it wont case injuries like the adult one. On Adult treadmills kids can get 2nd and 3rd degree burns from the belt if they fall on it. I love this product

If you’re going to leave a relatively intelligent comment, at least spell things right. I’m sure you’ve never “devot”-ed to anything in your life, and perhaps pluralize words if they require it. I’m glad it won’t “case” injuries, but why risk burns like that? Send them to the playground, let them get the sun and air they need. Let them move freely, jump around, and don’t tie them down to a piece of equipment initially designed for adults. An active lifestyle does not mean x number of hours on a treadmill. It means walking rather than driving. Biking instead of taking transit. It means eating healthier, and getting involved in the community. It doesn’t mean sitting at home in front of the television on a treadmill.

Alicia, get a life
This is great, the kids can walk on their treadmills next to their parents and develop healthy, lifelong habits. No……… I am not a manufactures rep, I am a pediatric registered nurse

I recently bought one of these treadmills for my 4 year old daughter. It is what she wanted for her birthday. She is far from overweight so its not like she needed it to lose some pounds or anything. But I have a treadmill and she likes to do what mommy does. I would rather her use her own little treadmill and be safe, then use mine and get hurt. I have two older children that will also use it for fun, the main goal being fun not weightloss. I think that it might set them in the right direction for when they get older and accually need something like this to help lose or control there weight. Or perhaps it will instill the lifestyle of excerise in them and when they get older they will not have to lose weight cause they will just be used to excerising everyday. Who knows…all I know is my daughter wanted one so she could be just like me, and that is enough to get me to buy her one. Also they don’t retail for 100 bucks anymore..we bought ours for 39.99 at extra foods.

Can the handle be heightened on the treadmill my grandson is seven years old but very tall, I think the treadmill is a very good idea we can’t always get out to
the play grounds as we would like to, we are managing what he eats I want him to see how important excerise is for him to be healthy, happy and have fun doing it.

IMHO, if this is what it takes to get the kids off the video games or t.v.(or get them to burn off some energy while doing said activities), then it’s a good thing. However, this does not mean that parents should neglect taking their kids out to the playground to play. That’s how kids develop agility, coordination, and just being outside with other kids playing/having fun. Kids get bored easily, so this money might be better spent elsewhere. Plus, our bodies were never meant to move in just a straight line (how many of you have had over-use injuries from constant jogging/running? ), esp. kids in their early stages of physical development. In the end, can this be a useful tool? Yes. Are there better options out there? (like playing on the monkey bars/sports??) Probably.

Great, let’s walk on a treadmill next to mommy and watch TV or listen to music, instead of mommy taking me outside to play and actually interact with me. This is a great toy for mommy’s who are into themselves and don’t want to be bothered by their child while they are exercising.

Wow, some heated comments about something that could actually be good for kids health. I disagree with John and actually have a 5 year old who likes to workout with my wife and I. We are by no means gym nuts and do plenty of other activities with our son. I think this is great and spending time with your child on healthy activities is teaching them habits for when they get older. Who thinks this is supposed to replace the playground, maybe this is a good supplement for rainy and cold days.
You people need to get outside and find a hobby!

sometimes the child is autistic and needs the extra moving around AFTER the playground and AFTER the playing outside and for the rainy days that you cannot get outside - I think any time extra a child wants to exercise is wonderful…..
