most-expensive-roccoco-table.jpgDeveloped in France in the 18th century, the Rococo  style preferred style over functionality, which is a philosophy I quite admire.

Let me now introduce you to the Tufft pier table, the most expensive Rococo table in the world.  Originally built for a general store owner, Thomas Tufft hand-carved this ornate desk in the last bits of the 18th century.

Back in January of 1990, the Tufft pier table sold at auction for an astounding $4.6 million, making this piece of art not only the most expensive Rococo table in the world, but the most expensive table period.

She’s a beauty, no?

    I LOVE this table….. I own it…. well, not the original $4.6 million table, but an incredibly beautiful hand carved reproduction that I got from Richard Rothstein & Co. out of Mount Laurel, New Jersey. It is a real gem of a table….
