Some say the most important book in English literature is William Shakespeare’s ”First Folio”.  I’ve always contended that anything by Douglas Adams can stand the test of time, but that’s just me.

According to the wise ole Forbes, the most expensive book of 2006 was Shakespeare’s “Comedies, Histories & Tragedies”, also known as the “First Folio”.  The copy of this particular book was printed in London in the year 1623, just seven short years after William’s death in 1616.

The “First Folio” is the very first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays which included more than a dozen plays that survived nowhere else.  This edition was purchased for $5.1 million.
