Panasonic has broken through the lead & has unveiled the world’s thinnest speaker.  The company’s previous effort has been cut by 40%, with the first one being about 2.5 millimeters thick & the thinnest weighing in at 1.5 millimeters thick, or .059″.

But will a speaker smaller than a postage stamp deliver quality sound?  Panasonic says yes.  Despite its size, the world’s thinnest speaker is said to boast the same quality as a regular-sized Panasonic speaker.  Full production of these speakers is said to begin in May 2007, but we know to expect delays.  I’ll be interested to test these thin babies out for myself.
