What about the beta vase that grows a plant too not very big. Hey how about this buy the tank put the furniture in a bigger tank with a filter and use the smaller tank for a plant or a small lizard. I kept a beta in it & he loved it, he would swim down in the filecabinet and sleep there. It was very difficult to clean, and the chair snapped off the base which is why I don't use it anymore. Goldfish don't require a filter so long as the tank is cleaned frequently enough, and he doesn't seem to have a problem with space, and actually seems to enjoy resting on his various pieces of furnerature.
