The world’s largest gold coin is up for sale.  Any takers?

Minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, this 220 pound gold coin is going up for auction through Teletrade.  The unique coin features maple leaves on one of its sides & Queen Elizabeth II on its other.

The coin will be auctioned off on August 16, though many of us have already started the bidding war.

Cold Weather Leads To Virginian Ice Wine

Although ice wines are typically associated with regions in the far north, due to last fall’s extreme cold weather, AmRhein Wine Cellars in Virginia is taking advantage of last year’s cold spell.

In November 2006, most of the grapes at the Virginian winery froze, so they are making lemons out of lemonade & making a special sweet dessert wine out of nature’s sour weather.

It will take more grapes to make the wine as well as more time fermenting, but the aftermath should be a sweet bottle of ice wine sold for around $45.

Those still surprised that Paris Hilton can find gainful employment shouldn’t really be all that shocked.  I mean, after all, model Kate Moss has had far worse press & she’s still kicking around making a healthy living.

That’s why I wasn’t taken aback when Paris was requested to be the face of the new Bliss jewelry collection by Italian designer Damiani.  Hilton was just recently photographed for the launch of the three-year campaign.  The new collection will range in price from $60 to $3,000 & will feature more youthful designs compared with Damiani’s previous work.

John Lennon’s Eyeglasses To Auction for $1.5 Million Or More

I mentioned the other day about John Lennon’s famous eyeglasses going up for auction on the British website 911.com, but I didn’t know then that they are supposed to go for around $1.5 million or more!

Jeez, can I auction off my eyewear for like a ten spot or something?  The famous Beatle’s eyeglasses are currently owned by Japanese TV producer Junishi Yore, who originally received them when he was working as a translator for the band. 

The glasses will also come with a handwritten note from Yore, explaining how he came to own them.  I could include one of those myself, that is if anyone’s interested in giving me that $10!

Sir Anthony Hopkins, the Painter

Sir Anthony Hopkins is more than an actor, he’s an artist.  And Sir Anthony Hopkins is more than an artist, he’s a painter.

Hopkins picked up the brush a few years ago & has been painting ever since, and he’s not all that bad if you ask me.  Currently there is an exhibition of his work on display at the MW Gallery in Aspen, Colorado called Dreamscapes.  The paintings are priced around $4,000-$20,000.

I’ll leave it to you to tell me if they’re worth it.

Paris Hilton Offered $1 Million to Talk Branding

This week is already shaping up to be a celebrity week, isn’t it?  Apparently someone has lost their mind & offered none other than Paris Hilton to talk branding at an upcoming convention.

The Learning Annex has requested Hilton’s presence at the Real Estate & Wealth Expo in Seattle, Chicago, New York & Boston.  The company is asking Paris to talk about branding for a whopping $1 million.

The 26-year-old socialite has yet to accept the request, but Donald Trump is already on the list of speakers, he raked in $1.5 million himself.  I’ll do it for an iPhone!

Eva Longoria & Tony Parker Gets $2 Million for Wedding Photos

You know, it must be nice to not only get married, but basically get paid for doing it as well.  Actress Eva Longoria & basketball star fiance Tony Parker will be receiving $2 million from OK! magazine for exclusive coverage of their upcoming wedding.

Longoria & Parker will be tying the knot Friday at a 17th century French castle just outside of Paris, and it looks like they won’t have to spend a dime!

Las Vegas Strip to See New Echelon Addition

Sin city is about to give birth to a new kid in town.  The Las Vegas strip will be hosting a new addition to its family, Echelon.

The new kid will be located at the hot north end of the Strip & will be another luxury pleasure palace for those that can afford it.  Echelon is the creation of Boyd Gaming, a veteran of Las Vegas.  While construction on the development will begin soon, Echelon does not expect to open its doors for another three years & $4.8 billion.

The Grape Escape Wine Event

Summer’s all about wine events & this year is no exception.  This weekend pack up & head to Sacramento for this year’s Grape Escape Wine Event held at Raley Field.

Musician Michael McDonald (who?) is slated to entertain all as well as 37 local wineries.  Tickets for the winey event starts at $50, but if you wanna do it up VIP style, you’re look at around $425.

Ford Ready to Sell Premiere Automotive Group?

Rumors abound that the Ford Motor Company has already started shopping around for buyers for their Premiere Automotive Group.

Ford’s luxury car group features Land Rover, Volvo, Jaguar & formerly Aston Martin.  It’s no really big surprise that the car company is trying to find a buyer since the company needs to sell, sell, sell to even stay in business.

So, I know you were going to invest in a Volvo later this year, but what about the whole Premiere Automotive Group?
