There are a lot of opulent, expensively-designed and decorated trees out there, and Blavish is dedicated to bringing you the best of these. This wondrous tree, which was displayed in Singapore in 2006, cost around $1 million. It was designed by Soo Kee Jewellers, and was showcased inside their store.
The tree itself was make of 21 karat gold. It was adorned with 21, 798 glittering diamonds 3,762 crystal beads, and 456 lights. The tree weighed in excess of 7,000 pounds and was almost 20 feet tall. Soo Kee wasn’t trying to sell the unwieldy wonder at all, it was just there to draw in customers and allow them a little taste of luxury. A sales associate at the store said, “Who in their right mind would buy that tree?” After the holiday season, the tree was broken up.

The release of The Tourist, the new action flick starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, left me feeling a little nostalgic for one of Depp’s most famous roles, as the infamous pirate Jack Sparrow. It’s not that I have a problem with Mr. Depp as Ms. Jolie’s sexy male counterpart, it’s just that I kind of like him all swaggering and drunkish. I haven’t actually seen the last installation of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but if the price tag is any indication, it’s a doozy.
Yes, I know that I’m writing about a movie that came out in 2007, but since then no movie, including Avatar, has been able to surpass the film’s $300 million budget. So, what did Disney spend all that money on? Well, mostly water. A 40 structure set was built on the Universal Studios backlot in a tank that was 80″ by 130″ and 3.5″ deep to shoot the scenes staged in Singapore. The Caribbean sets, which were in Palmdale, CA, had to be kept at a constant freezing temperature to ensure that bacteria didn’t breed and infect the staff. Who knew?

What might you imagine the ingredients are of the world’s most expensive soap? Would you imagine that it would have diamond dust to gently exfoliate you? Might it be wrapped in gold? Well, you wouldn’t be completely off the mark, but you wouldn’t be right on target, either.
The most expensive soap in the world is called Cor, and it’s made by a company called Plank. Plank isn’t your average luxury cosmetics company, though. They’re an extremely highbrow yoga goods maker. The soap, Cor, costs $125 for an 120 gram bar. There’s no diamond dust involved, though. According to Most Expensive, Cor “has chitosan to even out skin tone, sericinâ€â€a silk extractâ€â€to trap moisture and provide UV protection and four types of collagen to help maintain skin structure. Silver, a known antibacterial agent, is what makes Cor the most expensive soap in the world.”

Italian company Loro Piana which specializes in rare and expensive fibers is now offering a new piece made from lotus flowers.
The new lotus flower fiber jacket reportedly has a rare feel of both linen and silk and moves like you wouldn’t believe.
The luxury fashion firm has trademarked the Loro Piana lotus flower fabric and hopes to sell scarves and around 20 lotus jackets by Christmas this year. Each jacket will cost roughly EUR 4,000 (about $5,600). Extracted from the stems of lotus flowers, the novel fiber must be weaved within 24 hours to avoid deterioration. The lotus jacket from Loro Piana has come from stems of lotus flowers found in floating orchards around Lake Inle in Myanmar, Burma.
Talk about luxurious holiday gifts!

The cost of the average Thanksgiving dinner is around $45. That’s for ten people, and it includes dessert. But that $45 wouldn’t have gotten you very far at Cafe Gray’s infamous Thanksgiving dinner in 2006. Dinner for 12 at their chef’s table was prix fixe at $10,000. That’s about $833 a head, compared to the average American’s $4.50 a head.
To call this legendary event a “dinner”, however, is somewhat misleading. Thanksgiving Day at Gray’s began with a breakfast of cornflake-crusted french toast, scrambled eggs, brioche, bacon, and a viewing of the famous Macy’s Day Parade on giant plasma screens. I think it’s a little bizarre to watch the parade on TV when you’re actually in New York City and can just step outside and see the whole thing firsthand, but I guess you get a lot more elbow room kicking back at the chef’s table.
Around noon, Chef Gray did a personal turkey-carving demonstration, and then the brasserie bar opened to serve hors d’oeuvres to football fans, who watched NFL games on the bespoke plasma screen TVs. Dinner began with a salad of fennel and blood oranges, drizzled in a poppy seed vinaigrette. Next came truffled butternut potage and lobster and crabmeat gratin, followed by an organic lemon-thyme roasted turkey. Finally, for dessert there was pumpkin custard, key lime pie, and something called “million dollar pie”. I’m not sure what’s in “million dollar pie”, but the name seems a fitting end to a meal that costed over eight bills a head.

You might think that this year’s most expensive Halloween costume would be something encrusted with rare jewels, something made for a princess or at least some sort of lesser royal, especially at a cost of five million dollars. But, it’s actually this roly poly A&W rootbeer costume that drew the insanely high bid on eBay.Of course, it is the original A&W bear costume!
The seller described the item in elaborate detail:
The head is made of very study fiberglass with holes for the eyes. As you can see the picture of the head on the chair; that the fiberglass head is connected to two extensions with a pivoting back rest for comfort with belt loops to secure the head to your body. It is made very well made for many promotional visits to A&W Root Beer franchises. There are real bear feet. These bear feet are not slip overs. There are real leather shoes with laces inside the bear feet. There are laces to conform to most shoe sizes. The bear hands are sewn brown on one side and white on the other. The gloves are lined and are well made. The bear bottom has a nice tail on it. There is a shirt sewn in it with arms that fits on you. This sewn in top with arms will suspend the bottom on you like full body suspenders.
The seller also jokingly suggested that someone start the bidding at $250.

I Love Dogs Diamonds is a very specialty jeweler. Don’t go there looking for engagement rings or delicate brooches, though, because they only cater to canines. This Amour, Amour collar is the crown jewel of their collection. It features 1,600 handset white diamonds in 52 carats, all set it shining platinum. The centerpiece of the chandelier design is a 7 carat brilliant cut stunner. The Amour, Amour is priced at $3,200,000, and was dubbed the “Bugatti of Dog Collars” by Forbes Magazine.
If you’re looking for something slightly less extravagant, La Juene Tulipe collar may be more your (or your pooch’s) style. It’s a part-leather collar with marquis, pear, and brilliant-cut diamonds, and features a gorgeous 1.52 marquis diamond drop. La Juene Tulipe retails for $150,ooo, a relative bargain compared to the Amour, Amour.
If all of these collars seem excessive to you, you can pamper your pet’s health with the I Love Dogs line of vitamins and supplements, which contain ingredients such as green tea, reishi, and condroitin or one of their significantly less expensive leather and turquoise collars.

You might expect the world’s most expensive pair of jeans to be handcrafted. For $250,000, you would probably also expect them to be decorated with precious gems. You would expect them to be made out of rare, custom-treated materials. You would be right about all these things, but you might not be prepared for what they look like.
Dussault Apparel’s Trashed Denim jeans are handmade, and they undergo an extensive process of washing. In total, the jeans are washed thirteen times before they reach your body, with elaborate processes between each washing. Each pair is encrusted with sixteen 1-carat rubies, twenty-six .05-carat rubies, eight .05-carat diamonds and 1080 grams of 18k white or rose gold.
All these luxurious materials sound super opulent, but the jeans themselves are beyond casual. They have the kind of destroyed glamour that only a rockstar could love.
