Vladimir Putin’s Mystery Palace?

January 28, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as Realty at 9:00 pm | Comments off

Oh, how Wikileaks has changed our world! Now, it’s not just high level government documents that are getting leaked, it’s also possibly fallacious real estate news. Russian businessman Sergei Kolesnikov, who has ties to Vladimir Putin, claims that the Prime Minister is currently constructing a vacation home on the Black Sea. The nation’s press secretary claims that the Putin has no ties to the estate, but pictures like these have been released on RuLeaks, anyhow.

If this is the Prime Minister’s new beach haven, it’s quite a lovely one. The estate boasts gilded walls, marbled flooring, antique commodes, and oodles of baroque design touches. The residence even includes its own private casino. The home is basically the size of a small civic center and has its own private tunneled entrance to the beach. Hey, I guess if you can’t keep your real estate holdings a secret from the country you govern, you can at least save yourself a public walk of shame in your man thong.

Get A Deal On Alexis Bellino’s Newport Beach Mansion

It seems like all the Real Housewives are selling real estate this year, and like most people, are finding the market an unforgiving one. Alexis Bellino, a Real Housewife of Orange County, bought this beautiful Newport Beach home in 2006 for an undisclosed sum. She and her husband almost lost their home to foreclosure this summer when they defaulted in a four and a half million dollar loan.

The six-bedroom home has a well-appointed home theater, a gourmet kitchen, and an outdoor recreation area with a spa. Last month the home was listed for $4,995,000, but this month the price has been slashed to $3,695,000. It sits on a large double lot near the water and some celebrity homes. Nicholas Cage used to live right down the street, but sold his home in 2007 after finding an intruder in it. I guess even the ritziest neighborhoods have to worry about lurkers.

Kim Zolciak’s Luxury Townhouse Up For Grabs In Atlanta

Celebrity real estate often sells for more than its fair market value. People want a house with history, especially if that history is fashionable and fabulous. But Real Housewife Kim Zolciak may have overestimated how much Georgians might be willing to pay for her Atlanta townhome.

Granted, it is a beautiful home. It’s 3,396 square feet, with three bedrooms and three and half baths. But, Ms. Zolciak might have been a little delusional when she first put the house up for sale at $568,700. Other models in the same neighborhood with the same floor plan are listed at $400,000 and $445,000. Zolciak has now reduced her asking price to $499,000, which is still significantly more expensive than similar listings.

Kim paid $486,000 for the house when she bought it in 2006, and of course she wants to make her money back, but in a market where no one is making their money back, I’m not sure her reality-style celebrity is going to seem worth almost $100k to a potential buyer.

Miranda Kerr Puts Her NYC Bachelorette Pad Up For Sale

November 12, 2010 | Posted by bLavish as celebrities, Realty at 11:47 pm | Comments off

Supermodel Miranda Kerr put her posh Manhattan apartment up for sale this week. As the new wife of fellow A-lister, Orlando Bloom, she’s relocating to LA and leaving the big apple behind. The new couple is prepping for the arrival of their first child, due in a few months.

Of of this lovenesting is going to make some New Yorker very happy. Her apartment is in the centrally-located Flatiron district, about halfway between hipsterville (the Lower East Side) and midtown’s most luxurious shopping. Given that the average cost of a Manhattan apartment is around a million dollars, Kerr’s asking price of $1.35 million seems imminently reasonable, especially since the previous owner purchased the apartment for $2.75 million in 2007.

The 904 square foot apartment isn’t gigantic, but it has a lot of fabulous design features that make it interesting. It’s on the tenth floor, and well-appointed in a corner, which means loads of windows. According to the listing, it also includes “a central pod, a glossy free-standing cube in the center of the apartment that contains an efficiency kitchen and bathroom.” This is an interesting, space-saving feature that many city dwellers will envy. Plus, it has floor to ceiling mirrors, so even if you’re not a supermodel, you can stage your own private runway show.

Gwen Stefani’s Mulholland Mansion

This fabulous mansion, which has been owned by Gwen Stefani since 2006, was previously owned by pop diva Jennifer Lopez and entreprenuer Sam Nazarian. It is situated at the end of its own prive 250 ft. drive, nestled in an ultra-private gated community off of Mulholland Drive. The pop star, who lives there with her rockstar husband Gavin Rossdale and their children.

This small family is definitely not crowded up inside this 10,000 square foot residence. The home has 4 bedrooms and 6.5 baths, which are decorated mostly in whites and off-whites. The interior of the home is arranged off of a central gallery that runs the length of the house, and all the rooms are offset from there. I guess this is the upscale version of the old shotgun design!

The home’s exterior is as luxurious and interesting as its exterior. The grounds boast a huge swimming pool, tennis courts, and a private spa, not to mention numerous decorative fountains. The landscaping style is spare and elegant. Not a bad place to spend some quality time relaxing with the fam, huh?

JP Morgan Chase Exec Forced To Reduce The Price On His Lavish Chicago Home

September 7, 2010 | Posted by bLavish as Realty at 2:00 pm | Comments off

When Jamie Dimon, JP Morgan Chase CEO, bought his 26 room mansion in 2000 for 4.68 million dollars, it was one of the highest home prices paid in Chicago history. But that was nothing compared to the 13.5 million that Dimon was asking when he relisted the estate in 2007. Unfortunately for Dimon, no one was biting at that price, and last week he was forced to reduce the price to 6.95 million, almost half of the original asking price!

The mansion, which is located in the Gold Coast area of Chicago, boasts 13,500 square feet, which explains the orignal asking price. Dimon was trying to get $1,000 per square foot. Let’s consider this in the larger context of the real estate market. In 2006, luxury townhomes in New York City were selling for around $2k a square foot, which makes Dimon’s asking price seem pretty reasonable in comparison.

Dimon’s high-priced home seems somewhat less reasonable, however, if you consider the fact that you buy a perfectly lovely home in Ohio for $150 a square foot or less. Of course of these don’t have 9.5 bathrooms, 8 bedrooms, a wine vault, and 2 separate servant’s quarters!
