Artware Editions is a NYC perfumery that opened in 2006 in the West Village. Since then, they have steadily grown in fame and infamy. This is no ordinary perfume house. Artware collaborates exclusively with visual artists and creates scents based on their aesthetics.

Their amazing creations don’t stop in the bottle. The store features candles and other housewares based on unique collaborations with some of the most fascinating contemporary artists of our time. Their latest scent was done in partnership with Kiki Smith, and features notes of boxwood, fig, and currant.

One of their most celebrated editions was done with Amanda Lepore, and is housed in a spectacular bottle that features over 1,000 rhinestones. It was produced in an exclusive batch of only 5,000, and each coffret retails for $950. Artware says of their mission, “Since our inception, we have specialized in collaborating with visual artists to produce design objects and are proud to be the only gallery dedicated solely to this theme.  The pieces we carry vary widely in medium and function and have only two criteria in common: utility, and a strong visual and conceptual connection to the artists’ larger bodies of work.”

Clive Christian’s Imperial Majesty: The World’s Most Expensive Perfume

September 3, 2010 | Posted by bLavish as Heavenly Scents at 8:33 pm | Comments off

My grandmother used to tell me growing up that Joy was the most expensive perfume in the world. This was definitely true during the depression, but it has long since been displaced as the priciest perfume. While Jean Patou’s classic fragrance is still expensive, nothing compares to the $215,000 price tag on this bottle.

Perhaps not surprisingly, it’s not actually the perfume itself that is so expensive. Clive Christian’s Imperial Majesty is the exact same fragrance as his Clive Christian #1, which sells for a mere $865 an ounce. So what makes the difference between that and the Imperial Majesty’s $2,150 an ounce price? Why, the bottle of course.

There are only ten of these pure Baccarat crystal bottles made. Each is filled with a 16.9 ounces of the luxurious fragrance, but it’s not the size of the bottle or even the crystal that’s driving the price up. It’s the fact that the neck of the bottle boasts a full 18-karat gold collar with a five-karat brilliant cut white diamond on it!

So, what does it smell like? Well, it’s a woodsy fragrance with elements of bergamot, lime, mandarin and cardamom. Of course, only the finest, rarest oils are used. So, if you’re looking to treat yourself or your lady in a pretty major way, Clive Christian might just be the answer.

You can never have enough candles, I’ll bet that’s even a Chinese proverb.  And I don’t think you can have enough of these Mathmos Melt Candles at your dinner table.

It’s funny, from that second picture, these candles sure do look like fried eggs!  The Melt candles give the appearance that your candles are melting down the table, but without all that mess.  Cost, $25 for two.

Eau Noire Christian Dior Mens Cologne Fragrance.jpgEau Noire is one of the first three colognes launched by Christian Dior since 1947, and they can stop here.  Eau Noire is an enticing fragrant display of cologne creation; with oriental lavender, cedar, thyme and vanilla complimenting each other in a delicate, yet bold bouquet, Dior has make their mark.

I think I might spray down my favorite teddy bear with a quick spritz and enjoy the scent as I snuggle through the night.  This couture cologne balances the black-tie lifestyle with woodsy and irresistible, natural charm.  Cost, $255 (16.9 oz bottle).
