OK, so there are a lot of gaming systems out there & a lot of games to try out.  So you have a couple of choices- buy the games & then find out they suck, or rent them prior to buying & know what you like.  I’m a big fan of the latter, aren’t you?

With the PS3 & the Wii brand-spanking new, you have a lot of games to try out & Gameznflix is the best way to play before you buy.  It’s like a dating service for games, eh?  Gameznflix is another Netflix type service, but with more availability in the game department.  The plans go a little something like this:  1 at a time for $8.99 per month; 2 at a time for $12.99 per month; 3 at a time for $16.99 per month & 6 at a time for an annual $249.  Check ‘em out, I have a feeling this is going to be a good one!

Wii ‘Classic Controller’ Review

December 1, 2006 | Posted by Allison as Gaming at 8:00 am | Comments »

wii-classic-controller-review-12-1-2006.jpgHave a love for new gaming, but a heart for the classic style?  Why, Nintendo has just the answer for you.  The Wii “classic controller” resembles the SNES pad, but with a slightly more sleek design as well as added thumsticks.  Here’s what the pros are saying…

“My final test was Donkey Kong. This was the only game where the controller fell short, not because of some issue with the controller really, but simply because old arcade games just need to be played with a big joystick to really capture the essence of the game. Despite this one shortcoming, the Classic Controller is a must buy. If you have a Wii and plan to play even one Virtual Console game you’d be crazy not to spend $20 for this controller, it really makes the experience.”

So, what do you think?  Do you like the classic Wii?

Playstation 3 Debut Equates to Violence, Long Lines & High Prices

November 17, 2006 | Posted by Allison as Gaming at 11:38 am | Comments »

playstation-3-release-madness-11-17-2006.jpgUnless you live outside the solar system, the coveted & much awaited Playstation 3 went on sale very early this morning.  We were all gripped for the long lines & the soaring prices, but were we ready for Halo-style violence?

Gamers & entrepreneurs across the country have braved bad weather all week just to get the chance to pay $500 + for the Playstation 3, and around $60 per game.

One incident of unnecessary violence occurred in the state of Connecticut when two armed men waited outside a Wal-Mart store at 3am and demanded elated gamers to hand over their booty.  One individual stayed strong (stupid move!) and was shot.

With Sony only promising 400,000 systems for the launch, the stakes were high & the anticipation even higher.  Were you one of the lucky, diligent few?
