La Perla Feuillage Tulle Camisole And Briefs Set

February 3, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as For Her at 11:00 pm | Comments off

Here’s a Valentine’s Day gift that everyone can enjoy. Whether you are the gifter or the giftee, (and how could you not be both on this one?) this flirty lingerie from La Perla is a beautiful way to kick off a romantic evening at home or away. Or, if you’re planning a long night, it’ll be a great way to end the evening, for sure. The best thing about this set is that is overwhelmingly sexy without being the tiniest bit trashy.

The tulle fabric creates a beautifully sheer effect that shows almost as much as it obscures. The well-placed lace and trim keep a little bit of the mystery preserved but still enhance her assets. The babydoll shape is very forgiving, so she won’t feel self-conscious about  wearing it, and while the briefs cover, but are highly suggestive with their sheer back and delicate side ties. At $1,240, the set is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it under her favorite special occasion gown or all on its own.

Pamela Love “Let’s Make Mistakes” Locket

February 3, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as For Her at 3:58 pm | Comments off

Some women like a little levity with their romance, and a little edge to their jewelry. I happen to be one of those women, so I feel uniquely suited to help pick out gifts for other girls like me. If you need to buy a gift for a smart, hip, ironic woman, this Pamela Love locket is a totally spot on choice.

The locket itself is very unusual looking. No heart-shaped confections here, that’s for sure. The pendant is oval, but it looks weather-worn. The burnished finish on the silver adds to the casual look. The faded, old-fashioned cursive script on the exterior makes for an interesting contrast with the understated diamond accent , especially when you read the inscription: “Let’s Make Mistakes”.

As I read this, my cynical, sarcasm soul softened up just a little bit. This is an inscription that has an honest sweetness, and an inherent acknowledgement that love isn’t all flowers and candy. Plus, it looks really cool, and is wearable for more than just special occasions.

Love Necklace by Solange Azagury-Partridge

January 31, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as Bling Bling, For Her at 3:00 pm | Comments off

This week I will be featuring an array of Valentine’s Day gift ideas. Because we women are all different, and while most of us will probably smile at least a little at a diamond, choosing the right one can be difficult. This is a great gift idea for a woman will quirky chic taste. It’s fun and blingy, but still totally authentic. Plus, if LOVE is the message you’re trying to send, it says it loud and clear.

Rose gold is a new rage that I didn’t really see coming, but suddenly some of the hippest jewelry designers around are using it. It has an instantly vintage appeal that is buffeted in this case by the handwritten design. This necklace has a lot of length to it, so it’s really better for a younger woman who layers on her jewels rather than one who goes for something big and classic. Not that this is any small bauble. No, indeed, but it does have a subtle delicacy to it that is feminine and sweet.

Practical may not seem romantic, but when it looks this good, you might change your mind. This is a great gift for a busy fashionista who likes to stay organized in high style.

Every detail of this notebook has been well thought out, from the Barbie pink leather exterior, to the soft creamy lined pages. The simple embossing on the front is a daily reminder that keeping track of our thoughts and dreams is a great way to make sure you’re getting what you want out of life. In case you want to keep those things private, the notebook has a lock, and there’s a grosgrain ribbon bookmark to ensure you never lose your place.

Fabulous Judith Leiber Clutch For Your Valentine

January 28, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as Apparel, For Her at 6:00 pm | Comments off

For some women, there’s no better way to say, “I love you” than with a handbag. They’re one-size-fits-all without being generic, and they’re the kind of fashion that lasts for decades. This heart-shaped Judith Leiber Heart-n-Soul clutch comes right in time for Valentine’s day with a beautifully ornate design that will get her heart pumping a little faster.

The hand-painted floral pattern is delicate, but baroque, and the signature Judith Leiber crystal embellishments give it a lot of flash without making it tacky or over the top. The great thing about Judith Leiber bags, besides their amazingly creative shapes, is that they fit really nicely in the palm of the hand. This is the kind of clutch that would be fabulous for a black tie event, like that special V-Day dinner, but it would also be a great way to glam up a more casual outfit.

Lanvin Illustrated Bridal Notebook

January 10, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as For Her, Weddings at 4:56 pm | Comments off

This New Year’s Eve, my cousin Kate, who also happens to be one of my closest friends, got engaged. Immediately after celebrating this wonderful news, I started thinking back to the complications of planning my own wedding, and began wondering how I could help her stay organized and happy through what is inevitably a stressful process, even in the most ideal circumstances. This pretty little Lanvin notebook should do the trick.

Okay, so it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some wedding organizers, but in my experience, no one actually uses all that crap, anyways. What you really need is a nice, simple, pretty notebook to keep all your ideas, lists, and contacts in that isn’t so frilly that it makes you sugar sick. This is one of those notebooks, reasonably-sized, reasonably-priced, simple, chic, and it has an elasticized strap (like a Moleskine) to keep it all together. Buy this for every bride-to-be you know.

Yves Saint Laurent Arty Enamel Ring

January 5, 2011 | Posted by bLavish as For Her at 8:16 pm | Comments off

Yves Saint Laurent is one of the most impeccably stylish fashion lines, and has been for decades. Their aesthetic tends towards sort a feminine, French classic style that women around the globe covet. This bohemian chic ring is a great statement piece for day or evening, and at $195, is remarkably well-priced for a piece of designer jewelry.

Of course, it is, as they say, paste. The gold and turquoise are both faux, and the ring is actually made of tin. That’s hardly relevant, however, since the design is so spot on perfect. The textured finish on the goldtone metal really makes the bright blue stones pop in an eye-catching, opulent way. This is a great gift for a girl with funky, but still elegant, style.
