Most Expensive Fast & Furious Luxury Cars 2006

March 10, 2006 | Posted by Allison as Fast & Furious Cars at 12:59 pm | (10) Comments »

I know, I know- I’ve been on a ‘most expensive’ kick lately; but I think I’ll end it this week with a bang. Here are the most expensive luxury cars of 2006, put out by Forbes this week. Enjoy the true eye candy!

Maybach.jpg

#10: Maybach 57 S

Maybach’s new model, the 57 S, is designed to be a sportier alternative to its other cars, the 57 and 62. Cost, $367,000.

Porsche.bmp #9: Porsche Carrera GT

Some automotive publications claim Porsche has stopped selling its Carrera GT supercar. But at press time, Porsche confirmed that its $440,000 flagship convertible is still available in the U.S. Cost, $440,000.

Maybach.bmp #8: Maybach 62

Maybach’s 62 ultra-luxury sedan is made by Mercedes-Benz, which has shocked us by proving that a car that is this expensive to build can turn a profit. Cost, $385,250.

Mercedes.bmp #7: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

A mainstay on our lists of the world’s fastest and most expensive cars, the delightful SLR McLaren is about as comfortable and sophisticated as a street-legal racecar can be. Cost, $452,750.

Koenigsegg.bmp #6: Koenigsegg CCR

Koenigsegg’s CCR uses an 806-hp V-8. Cost, $545,568.

Saleen.bmp #5: Saleen S7 Twin Turbo

Saleen’s S7 Twin Turbo has fallen to fifth place from first last year, because all four nameplates ahead of it in this year’s ranking are new. But the S7 remains one of the more recognizable (that’s a relative term here) models on the list. Cost, $637,723.

Leblanc.bmp #4: Leblanc Mirabeau

Leblanc is ramping up production of its new Mirabeau supercar. The company hopes to make the vehicle street legal for the U.S. by the end of 2006 or early 2007. Cost, $645,084.

SSC.bmp #3: Ultimate Aero

The most expensive American car is also the fastest. Automaker SSC estimates this vehicle is capable of hitting 260 to 273 mph on the track. Cost, $654,500.

Pagani.bmp #2: Pagani Zonda Roadster

Pagani is a boutique automaker that builds radical-looking racecars. This version of its Zonda flagship has 650 hp. Cost, $668,000

And the Number 1 Most Expensive Luxury Car of 2006 is (drumroll please)…….

Bugatti.bmp

#1: Bugatti Veyron

With its notorious production delays finally over, Bugatti’s Veyron is now on sale in Europe–and the company wants to bring it to the U.S. Cost, $1.2 million.

Now that you’ve probably picked out your favorite, my recommendation is to call a billionaire on the top 2006 list and beg for one!

The 2007 Saab Aero X Concept Secret Is Out!

It seems like there’s always a leak in the superior automotive industry. Following an Internet leak last week, GM officially unveiled the 2007 Saab Aero X Concept, a doozie of a name, Monday. Many have been on pins and needles waiting to see what GM would serve up, and it looks like it’s going to be one hot dish.

Aero II.jpg

GM stated that the Aero X, “harnesses the power of Saab’s aviation and Scandinavian roots to make a unique statement in performance car design.” Conceived as a study to explore future deign directions (no, it doesn’t do any Jetsons moves yet), its innovative features preview the development of an enhanced design language that will inspire future Saab products.

Let’s take a tour….

First, there are no doors or windshield pillars, the Aero X has taken the aviation roots to heart and created a cockpit canopy just as you would see on a jet aircraft. This offers the lucky driver full 180 degree vision.

The 400-hp, twin-turbo, BioPower V6 engine is fueled entirely by ethanol. So, when you’re enjoying the exceptional ride this beauty gives you, the environment will smile along.

One of the coolest interior features is that with the Aero X, they have elimoinated the conventional dials & buttons. Instead, you are treated to 3-D graphics displayed on a glass-like acrylic ‘clear zone’. All exterior and interior lighting is by LED, so no more changing the bulbs every few years.

With weigh-saving carbon fiber bodywork, a lightweight powertrain, electronically controlled suspension and all-wheel drive, the Sabb Aero X is an exciting luxury car that promises the driver both class and ecstasy. Computer simulations anticipate zero to 60 mph/100 kph in just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph/250 kph.

No matter how you cut it, the 2007 Saab Aero X Concept is a sexy, beautiful performance car that is calling my name. Do you hear yours as well?

Lacking Nothing- the Bugatti Veyron

February 15, 2006 | Posted by Allison as Fast & Furious Cars at 1:22 pm | (130) Comments »

How would you describe the most amazing car in the world?

  • The car with the most horsepower?
  • The car with the fastest top speed and acceleration?
  • The most expensive car?

At the moment, it looks like the Bugatti Veryon has it all:

  • A W-16 engine that can produce 1,001 horsepower
  • A top speed of 250mph + (400kph +)
  • A zero-to-60 time of three seconds
  • A zero-to-180 time of 14 seconds
  • A sticker price somewhere in the $1.2 million range

veyron III.jpgThe world’s fastest, most expensive and most exclusive factory-built car is a  short, curvy, two-seater with massive power.  Can you handle her?  The car’s features sound like those on a jet:  diffuser flaps, air-intake scoops, a tail wing that acts like an airbrake and 1.7 miles of cable to power onboard electronics.  No, I don’t think you can.

Bugatti, owned by Volkswagen, can only produce one Veyron per week in its newly built factory in France.  The company will discontinue creating this beautiful monster once it hits 300 orders.

“Now that the car has become real as opposed to virtual, the interest has been absolutely tremendous,” said Georges Keller, Bugatti’s head of communications.  The Veryon took seven years to build.  And you only have a limited amount of time to get your hands on one.
