If Those Walls Could Talk- Al Capone’s Miami Beach House for Sale

April 3, 2006 | Posted by Allison as Dream Homes at 1:35 pm | (6) Comments »

Al Capones House for Sale.jpgHave you ever watched Goodfellas or Scarface and wanted to live the life, at least the life they show halfway into the movies?  Then here is your chance to live in a little piece of mobster history.

Al Capone’s Miami Beach house is up for sale.  I’ll warn you, it’s an art deco fixer-upper, but a lot of charm, the mob kind.  Current owner Henry “Hank” Morrison bought the home in 1971 for $56,000- a good price at that time for the former Delta pilot.  The house is expected to bring in at least $6 million due to its history as well as its Miami Beach location.

The house was originally built in 1922 for Clarence Busch of the Anheuser-Busch brewery and sold to Al Capone in 1928 for $40,000.  It’s come along way in price since 1922 & even 1971.  What a good investment for the now 73-year-old retired pilot Morrison.

Care to make the Capone plunge?  $6.8 million buys you Scarface history and a good view of Miami Beach.

St. Patrick’s Day Estate

blairscove.jpgNow that we know about Ireland’s up-and-coming status, I thought we might all start moving there.  Luxist had a great post up today for an estate available in County Cork.

“For today’s estate, it’s appropriate that we visit Ireland. Blairs Cove Estate has classic appeal. Expansive green lawns, a rugged coast line and plenty of old stonework contribute to the charm of this property that overlooks Dunmanus Bay in West Cork. The estate includes a period Georgian house, a separate four-bedroom cottage, a courtyard with four apartments and a restaurant that seats 85, stables, and a greenhouse on 4.5 acres of land. The restaurant has been in business for over 25 years and Blair’s Cove is a popular sight for weddings. Ancient stone walls, colorful gardens, ponds and a cobblestone courtyard complete the classic picture. The main Georgian house was built in 1786 and has both formal and informal living areas and an added conservatory. It has five bedrooms. This estate is listed at 3.5 million euros.”

Not to shabby of a price for such a highly ranked country & for such a beautiful estate.  I know I’m thinking about it!

A Dream House Fit for a Gates

Bill Gates House.bmpSet on the shores of Lake Washington you will find the 40,000 square foot house of Bill & Melinda Gates. Man, it would take me years to find my eyeglasses if I left them in that room with the red carpet.

I took seven years to build the mansion on a wooded 5-acre compound in the Seattle suburb of Medina. It is a paradise for the fun-loving and young at heart with a trampoline room (I think he stole my idea), 20-seat theatre, arcade, a 24-screen video wall, sport court, water skiing dock & 2 spas.

If you are the Gates’ you will also enjoy your 37,000 square foot 20-car garage ($30 million), indoor swimming pool, sauna, 1700 square foot guest house, formal dining room, library, reception hall for 100 people (just in case) & your very own man-made trout stream. Worth, $53,392,000.
