The World’s Oldest Camera Sells for Near $800,000

The world’s oldest camera recently sold at auction last week for an incredible $792,333. The daguerreotype camera which was built in 1839 was the first to camera to be made commercially available to the public at large.

The sale price of the camera has also earned it the title of world’s most expensive camera. That’s a lot of titles for one camera, hopefully it won’t all go to its head….

Ohhhh, so that’s how you’re suppose to take pictures of you & your honey on holiday. I see. Or I guess that’s the best way when you either don’t want to ask a passerby to snap a shot or there’s no one around.

The QuickPod is a fast-acting pole that allows you to take photographs of yourself when there’s no one else around. All you have to do is attach the QuickPod to your camera & snap away. Sounds like a great idea, and the pole is positioned so that your arm will not embarrassingly in the vacation pics. Cost, $25.

Canon Says Goodbye Forever to Developing New SLR Cameras

Japanese camera maker Canon announced today that they will now stop developing new single-lens reflex cameras as everyone abandons film for digital. The Tokyo-based company’s announcement comes recently after Japanese rival Nikon stated they would be concentrating more on digital models.

Canon will continue to make the film cameras currently on the market as lost as demand remains. Japanese camera makers sold 64.77 million digital cameras last year, compared with only 5.38 million film cameras sold.

Well, I guess it all makes sense to go digital, but I still kinda like the purity of film.
