wine-troubles-winter-8-7-07.jpgAlthough ice wines are typically associated with regions in the far north, due to last fall’s extreme cold weather, AmRhein Wine Cellars in Virginia is taking advantage of last year’s cold spell.

In November 2006, most of the grapes at the Virginian winery froze, so they are making lemons out of lemonade & making a special sweet dessert wine out of nature’s sour weather.

It will take more grapes to make the wine as well as more time fermenting, but the aftermath should be a sweet bottle of ice wine sold for around $45.
