Sony VAIO VGN-UX50.bmpWhen I first saw the picture of the Sony VAIO VGN-UX50, I was left thinking, ‘Are we sure this isn’t a concept piece’?  But apparently it’s real enough for Sony to introduce the unique-looking portable PC this July.

According to Gizmodo, “Sony’s VGN-UX50 is a real mini-PC with an Intel Centrino 1.06GHz processor running Windows XP. There’s a separately available Bluetooth GPS unit, two built-in cameras and it takes just five seconds to start up from standby mode.”

I love the hideaway keyboard & the 4.5-inch LCD touch screen panel.  This VAIO beauty will be available in July & you can be introduced properly for $1800.

Casio Intoduces eBay Digital Camera

Casio eBay Camera Series Line.jpgCasio is introducing a new series of digital cameras with dedicated ‘eBay’ shooting modes. The EX-Z60, EX-7600 & EX-7850 all include the eBay mode, which automatically sets your camera to the most applicable setting for eBay photos.  So basically this camera series is for lazy people like me.

I guess I will give the eBay cameras the right to exist, but the hilarious & reality-stricken writer & reviewer Michael J. McNamara wonders where it all will end, suggesting a ‘wedding guest reduction filter’ which “automatically blanks out anyone in a family portrait who doesn’t really belong there, and moves those standing on either side together.”

That, my friend, sounds like a winner to me.  I do feel where McNamara is coming from, I mean first we had the single-blade shaving razor, then the two-blade, then three, then four and now we’re at five- eventually will my razor be the length of my arm?  I’ll just keep listening to the TV I guess when it say this is progress, progress, progress.  I do have to confess that I now swear by my Gillette Fusion.

Scion xB Mobile DJ

Scion 2004 xB Dj.jpgBornRich had it right when they said this 2004 Scion xB is no less than an actual DJ.

“The 2004 Scion model is fully done-up with Pioneer DJ products. The rear of the car fully retracts and two CDJ-1000s and a DJM-600 mixer in a “coffin” motorizes up to play music. The scion mobile DJ also boasts of two AVD-W8000 8-inch monitors in the rear window, Pioneer’s REV series component speakers mounted on doors, four 12-inch subwoofers and the rear doors motorizes open to reveal four sets of the TS-C160R REV speakers installed in specially shaped enclosures . This 2004 Scion xB is the hippest way of hitting the road!”

I don’t even have this type of setup in my home, let alone my ride, but I could definitely do with my own personal DJ.

Andy Warhol Soup Can Painting Sells for $11.7 Million

pepper-pot-can.jpgThis week at Christie’s contemporary art sale an Andy Warhol painting sold for $11.7 million, which makes me think I should start painting soup cans.

“Small Torn Campbell’s Soup Can (Pepper Pot)”, a 1962 painting, shows a can of Campbell soup with a torn & shredded label.  This is an early work of Warhol’s which he did following the success of previous soup can pieces.   Eli Broad of Los Angeles won the 16 x 20 inch painting in the Christie’s auction.  You know, that’s approximately $36,562.50 per square inch.  Wowzers.  I need to start working on my art career pronto, fake my death & rake in the cash.

Flip Flop Mop.jpgFinally, what I’ve been wanting for since Pippi Longstocking in grade school, clean & scour-ready shoes! And this pair of flip flops done mop-style are about as cute as they come.

Designed by artist Marie Louise to create a more fun & enticing way to clean, I’m ready for a pair in pink, red, blue & orange.  No word on the price of this item, but based solely on cute factor I’m willing to go $20.

5500 Smartphone Sport Nokia.jpg

Nokia has just announced an upcoming smartphone model for all you athletics out there.  The S60 Third Edition 5500 Sport will use a single button switch between three different modes:  music, sport & phone.

The music mode will allow you to listen to the music you have stored on your microSD card or FM radio.  The sport selection lets you use the integrated pedometer, cool!, to calculate your distance or calories you burn.  And well, the phone mode is pretty self-explanatory.

The steel casing & dust-resistant shell with rubber grips make this smartphone the perfect companion for sport enthusiasts. Other features of the Nokia 5500 Sport include text to speech, 2 megapixel camera, & integrated flashlight- sounds very handy.

The 5500 Sport is set to his stores in late summer, which means next year, right?  With a cost of around $400.

Origami DVD player concept.jpgThis concept Origami DVD Player is a portable DVD player that may be manufactured using e-paper, a full-color flexible display technology- awesome!, which is being developed by Mag-Ink in Israel.

This easily portable DVD Player has a folding screen allowing you to drop it in your pocket & go.  Tired of waiting in that DMV line, just take out the Origami DVD & enjoy the latest flick.

Wow, what an incredible concept.  Sadly, concepts are just that- concepts and with no word on any actual production date, it may stay in the conceptual origami form for some time.  I have to say thought, that this one ranks high on the charts of maybe product projects.

Samsung SGH-X820 World’s Thinnest Cell Phone

May 9, 2006 | Posted by bLavish as Gadgets at 11:59 am | Comments off

SGH-X820 Samsung.jpgGood things come in small packages, but only if you’re talking cell phones & dress sizes.  Samsung is on the right track to achieve this adage with their SGH-X820, currently the thinnest mobile phone in the world.

This super slim & super sleek SGH-X820 measures in at just .27 inches thick.  With such a slim package would you think you would get Bluetooth & a two-megapixel camera?  It would be a lot to ask, but you got it.

The SGH-X820 will hit Europe later this month and in the US by the end of the year.  Better start saving up now, early buyers, or I fear you wallet will be thinner than your phone.

Lightning Reaction Extreme, A Shocking Game of Fun

May 9, 2006 | Posted by bLavish as Gadgets, Tremendous Toys at 10:34 am | Comments off

Lightning Extreme Reaction Game.jpgThe most recent version of Lightning Reaction Extreme is now available. This quick-reaction game has a sting up its sleeve.  How it works:  up to four people hold the pistol grips, someone punches the starter button which makes the time flash & sound. After a random amount of time the timer stops & everyone then tries to click their trigger button as fast as possible.

Sound like the perfect drinking game?  I think I’ll have to let this one pass me by, sounds like too much fun.  You can treat yourself to this shocking game of fun for only $25.
